Good information, hampered by poor audio quality I'm afraid. In any case don't know if you covered this but the Zero Motorcycles X model has a quick change battery pack. They ran a 24 hour endurance race in April which I attended and podcasted about at Technosanity #25: 24 Hours of Electricross - Interview with Neal Saiki. For certain use cases a quick change pack gets around the recharge time issue. On V is for Voltage I've posted a lot of TTXGP coverage in the EV Racing section. An interesting bit of news is the TTXGP bikes are going to be racing in Ohio pretty soon. I am the owner of V is for Voltage, and thank you for mentioning our site. FWIW your question to John about how he got into motorcycles is making me stop and ponder for a moment. I've been riding bicycles all my life but was always afraid about motorcycles. In 2002 I bought a 30 miles/hr electric scooter with which I was able to get around Silicon Valley pretty well and hooked me on larger 2 wheelers. Today I have a 45 miles/hr electric motorcycle, a gas powered Honda Rebel 250, a 45 miles/hr electric 3 wheeler, and a couple electric bicycles. I prefer riding electric because no-noise-no-vibration makes for a more pleasant riding experience. Plus as you said in the interview instant torque makes for a more fun ride. The Rebel feels like a lunging beast with a mind of its own, while the electric is amazingly easy to control and maneuver. Part of the difference is the response from the throttle, on the gas bike the engine doesn't smoothly respond while on the electric throttle response is smooth and direct.
